I'm white and I bought a fancy looking "pigalle" sombrero at the flea market for 5 bucks and I wear it around the yard to keep the sun off of my neck when it is hot outside. Also my Mexican girlfriend says I look "muy guapo" 😊

When I see someone wearing a flat cap, I automatically think they’re trying to hide baldness. I think they’d look better without it and being confident of their appearance, hair or not.

I think very few people look good in a flat cap. Personal view only, but I have always associated this style with old men. Possibly because I grew up in a mining area of Scotland and all the old miners wore these ‘bunnets’.

In reading a WWII/Korean war biography of a US officer, I ran into an unfamiliar term, "neat cap." I can't figure out whether or not this means the garrison cap or the round service cap. What say you, hat historian?

When I was younger we called that type of headgear a spudnickel cap. We wanted a name as goofy as the cap looks.

I am 64 years old and I have worn hats since I was 06😮 years old (thanks to my Dad) my first hat when I was about 6 or 7 (in the 69s) was a Fedora to this day depending on the day or month I wear Fedora's, Tam (at Scottish events along with my kilt) Cowboy hats, Bowler Hat (along with suit) Top Hat in December along with a Suitand Casmer Scarf and during tha Cold season with everyday coothes I wear a Jeep Cap (think of Radar on Mash)

This was interesting and answered most of the questions I had that led me to this video. Weirdly I've always associated this hat with pirates - when worn parallel to the shoulders. Likely due to the rebellious reasons to the British empire that you listed? (FYI, when wearing that hat parallel to your shoulders you look oddly like James Spader)

When I was young I would wear one of these while helping my father in the vegetable garden. It does its job well.

I wear a beret in the winter time and fall. It is a very practical and warm hat. French made, of course.

Young people were introduced to the Fez with the Grunkle Stan character from Gravity Falls. As an older viewer of the sbow, i knew that it is a Shriner Fez and a symbol to summarize his character. He might apper as a grouchy character but underneath he has a good soul, he has done good deeds in that organization.

As a son of Washington County, PA, I have mixed feelings on this. Liberty Poles and Phyrigian caps were a big thing during the Whiskey Rebellion. On the one hand, the people wearing it were insane terrorists. On the other, they had legitimate complaints as their livelihoods were being destroyed by the Tyrant Hamilton.

I'm a Finn and never knew that specific hat comes from here! I guess it's because we.. dislike Russia and USSR so much we want nothing to do with the hat either 😂 I did know we have always had many similar looking ones, though

Un stalker, c'est plutôt un chasseur à l'affût ou à l'approche... un traqueur, ce sera plus un beater ou un tracker (beater pour rabattre les oiseaux, tracker pour pister le gros gibier). En Angleterre chaque pratique de chasse, encore plus que sur le continent, se distingue par son vocabulaire (if you go hunting, c'est forcément avec un cheval... si c'est avec un fusil, you go shooting... si c'est à l'approche avec une carabine dans les landes du nord, you go stalking)
